Potters for Peace and Adamah Clay Studios are pleased to invite you to

Primitive Kiln Building and Ancient Ceramic Techniques of the Southwest

With Don Hall from Potters for Peace
June 17 – 22, 2019
Adamah Clay Studios
4681 County Rd ZZ, Dodgeville, WI 53533

Join Potters for Peace Board of Directors member, Don Hall, for a 5-day workshop building a primitive, low-fire, wood-burning kiln from branches and hand-mixed adobe. Don has experience building and firing primitive kilns in Nicaragua and the South West.

We will build a simple updraft kiln using ancient techniques and materials that some cultures are still using to fire their pottery. Bring along up to 10 small, dry, unglazed greenware objects to fire. Raku clay or low fire clay with grog added works best, but don’t be afraid to just use your regular clay.

Don Hall will also teach ancient handbuilding pot making and surface decorating using yucca brushes like the ancient people of the Southwest.

Time: Workshop begins Monday, June 17 at 5:00 pm and ends Saturday, June 22 at 1:00pm
Lodging:  Art Ventures Retreat Center at Adamah, $170 (5 night stay)
Meals: $140 (14 meals)
Workshop: $325
Total Package: $635
