Now’s your chance to learn how to build and fire a Barrel Arch Kiln, a model that Potters for Peace is now using for many of the kilns we build in Nicaragua. This is a low-fire, wood-burning kiln.

Adamah Clay Center
June 9 – 15, 2019
Cost: $670

Join Robert Pillers, our Nicaraguan Director, for a 7-day kiln-building workshop. During the workshop students will build and fire a barrel arch kiln. This kiln style is used throughout Central America to wood fire tumble-stacked, low-fire pottery (cone 06). The kiln will take 3 days to build and then it will be fired (with your pots in it) and cooled.

Bring your own terra cotta greenware or throw a few pieces at Adamah and add colored slips. We will fire your pieces in the completed kiln. The kiln will cool by the end of the workshop so you can take your pots home.

Leave with a set of kiln plans and knowledge of how to build and fire a barrel arch kiln.
